Once a month!
Privacy policy for sending new articles on WhatsApp
- I don’t care about your actual phone number. I just want an easy way to send you new articles to your phone
- I use Plausible analytics to understand usage data: visitors, bounce rate and how much of the article is read. Nothing is collected automatically except for your IP address, and no cookies are dropped. Usage data is anonymised
- I’m never going to give, rent or sell your phone number to anyone. Definitely definitely never going to use it for anything except sending you a message (maximum once a month), notifying you of a new article
- You may not be in the EU, but I operate as if the GDPR applies to the whole world because it is the most restrictive (or most beneficial to people, depending on your perspective) data privacy regulation. Here’s how your GDPR rights are respected.
- Right to be informed. You opt in to receive articles by sending a message to the Fifteen Minute Reads WhatsApp business account. The message reads: “Please notify me of new articles on WhatsApp, once a month”
- Right of access. The only data I have about you is your phone number. You already have it. Your usage data is anonymized so I can’t give you that data
- Right to rectification. That would mean changing your phone number. Subscribe with your new phone number and send me a message to delete the old number
- Right to erasure. You can do this by sending me a message asking me to delete your phone number
- Right to restrict processing. There’s no processing, so restricting processing is basically erasure
- Right to data portability. You already have this. You’re free to use your phone number for whatever you want
- Right to object. Presumably, you’re objecting to receiving messages about new articles. Block the Fifteen Minute Reads WhatsApp business account, or send me a message to remove you from the list
- Right to avoid automated decision-making. No such thing is happening.
