Fifteen minute reads about hidden structures in the world
Once a month!
Privacy policy for the email list
- I only collect your email address — nothing else. It’s used for exactly one thing: telling you when there’s a new Fifteen Minute Read (at most once a month).
- Double opt-in: after you sign up you’ll get a confirmation email, and you’re only added if you click it. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe.
- The list lives in my own database and I send through Resend. I’m never going to give, rent or sell your email to anyone. Definitely definitely never going to use it for anything except notifying you of a new article.
- For usage data I use Cloudflare Web Analytics: privacy-first, no cookies, and no cross-site tracking. Nothing personal is collected.
- You may not be in the EU, but I operate as if the GDPR applies to the whole world because it is the most restrictive (or most beneficial to people, depending on your perspective) data privacy regulation. Here’s how your GDPR rights are respected.
- Right to be informed. You opt in by entering your email at /subscribe and confirming via the email I send you.
- Right of access. The only data I have about you is your email address — which you already have. Usage data is anonymised, so there’s nothing else to hand over.
- Right to rectification. Subscribe with your new address and unsubscribe the old one.
- Right to erasure. Click “unsubscribe” in any email.
- Right to restrict processing. There’s no processing beyond storing your address to email you; restricting it is basically erasure.
- Right to data portability. You already have your email address. You’re free to use it for whatever you want.
- Right to object. Presumably, you’re objecting to receiving messages about new articles. Unsubscribe via any email.
- Right to avoid automated decision-making. No such thing is happening.
